Planapochromatic is a term used in microscopy and optics to describe a type of lens that is corrected for chromatic aberration across multiple wavelengths of light and also for spherical aberration and field curvature. This advanced correction aims to produce images that are sharp and clear across the entire field of view, with accurate color rendering. While "apochromatic" lenses are corrected for three primary colors (red, green, and blue), the addition of "plana" indicates a further correction for flatness of field. This means that objects at the edges of the field of view will be as sharply focused as those in the center. Planapochromatic lenses are highly prized in demanding applications such as scientific research, medical diagnostics, and high-end photography where image quality is paramount.
