Perustunteet, also known as the "Fundamental Duties" in English, is a set of moral obligations prescribed by the Constitution of India. These duties were added to the Constitution by the 42nd Amendment in 1976. The Fundamental Duties are not enforceable by any court, but they serve as a reminder of the responsibilities that every citizen of India has towards the nation and its people.

The Fundamental Duties are listed in Article 51 of the Indian Constitution and include duties such as respecting the Constitution, the National Flag, and the National Anthem, promoting harmony, valuing and preserving the rich heritage of India, safeguarding public property, and striving towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity.

These duties are not exhaustive and are not intended to limit the scope of the Fundamental Rights guaranteed by the Constitution. They are meant to guide the citizens in their conduct and to foster a sense of patriotism and civic responsibility.

The Fundamental Duties have been interpreted by the Supreme Court of India in various cases, and their scope and applicability have been debated in legal and political circles. However, they remain an important part of the Indian Constitution, reflecting the values and principles that the framers of the Constitution sought to instill in the citizens of India.
