peptidekötés
Peptidekötés is the Hungarian term for peptide bond. A peptide bond is a type of amide bond that forms between two amino acids during protein synthesis. Specifically, it is a covalent bond formed between the carboxyl group of one amino acid and the amino group of another amino acid, with the elimination of a water molecule. This reaction is a dehydration synthesis or condensation reaction. The formation of peptide bonds links amino acids together in a linear chain, creating a polypeptide. The sequence of amino acids linked by peptide bonds determines the primary structure of a protein. The peptide bond is planar and has some double-bond character due to resonance, which restricts rotation around the bond and contributes to the overall three-dimensional structure of proteins. The hydrolysis of a peptide bond, which breaks the chain back into individual amino acids, requires energy and is catalyzed by enzymes.
