Parity Driven is a type of operational mode in the Ethereum blockchain protocol, first introduced as part of the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade. The primary goal of Parity Driven is to enhance the scalability of the Ethereum network by increasing its capacity to handle a larger number of transactions per second.

In a Parity Driven environment, the Ethereum network is divided into multiple parallel instance of the blockchain, each of which is known as a "shard". These shards are responsible for processing a portion of the total transactions on the network, thereby reducing the overall strain on the main blockchain. This allows the network to achieve a higher throughput and enables a greater number of users to be supported.

Each shard in a Parity Driven environment operates independently of the others, with its own set of nodes and validators. However, all shards are still connected to the main Ethereum network via the inter-shard communication protocol, and any global state changes on the mainnet are preserved across all shards.

The introduction of Parity Driven technology aims to address one of the major challenges facing the Ethereum network, which is its scalability limitations. By allowing for a greater number of transactions per second and enabling the network to support a larger user base, Parity Driven has the potential to unlock new use cases and applications for the Ethereum network.

Parity Driven is being developed by the Ethereum 2.0 development team, in collaboration with the research community and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem. The implementation of Parity Driven is still ongoing, with multiple testnet environments and mock-ups currently available for development purposes.
