Nyirokvezet refers to lymphatic vessels, which are part of the lymphatic system. This system is a network of tissues and organs that help rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials. The lymphatic system transports lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body.

Lymphatic vessels are thin, tube-like structures that carry lymph. They are found throughout the body, alongside blood vessels. The vessels have one-way valves that ensure lymph flows in a single direction, towards the heart. Lymph is collected from the interstitial fluid, the fluid that surrounds cells in tissues. This fluid, now called lymph, enters the lymphatic capillaries, the smallest lymphatic vessels. From there, it moves into larger collecting vessels, then into lymphatic trunks, and finally into lymphatic ducts. The two main lymphatic ducts, the thoracic duct and the right lymphatic duct, drain lymph back into the bloodstream.

The lymphatic vessels play a crucial role in fluid balance, immune response, and fat absorption. They help return excess fluid and proteins from the tissues back to the circulation, preventing swelling. They also transport immune cells and facilitate the immune system's surveillance of the body. Furthermore, specialized lymphatic vessels in the small intestine absorb fats from digested food and transport them to the bloodstream. Blockages or damage to lymphatic vessels can lead to lymphedema, a condition characterized by swelling.
