norskspråkiga refers to speakers of the Norwegian language. Norwegian is a North Germanic language spoken primarily in Norway, where it is the official language. There are two official written standards of Norwegian: Bokmål and Nynorsk. While they are mutually intelligible, they have distinct differences in vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.

The majority of Norwegians speak Bokmål, which is based on Danish. Nynorsk, meaning "New Norwegian," was developed in the 19th century from various Norwegian dialects and is spoken by a smaller percentage of the population, primarily in western Norway.
