Nitazoxanide is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic and antiviral medication. It is primarily used to treat infections caused by protozoa and helminths. In the United States, it is approved for the treatment of diarrhea caused by the protozoa Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia in individuals one year of age and older. It is also used off-label for a variety of other parasitic infections.
