mólok

Mólok refers to the mole, the SI base unit for amount of substance, in Hungarian usage. The mole is used to quantify the number of elementary entities in a sample, such as atoms, molecules, ions, electrons, or photons.

Definition: Since 2019 the mole is defined by fixing Avogadro's constant. One mole contains exactly 6.02214076×10^23 elementary entities. The symbol for the unit is mol.

Mass and molar mass: The mass of one mole of a substance equals its molar mass in grams per mole. For carbon-12, the molar mass is exactly 12 g/mol, so one mole has a mass of 12 g. For water, the molar mass is about 18.015 g/mol, so one mole weighs about 18.015 g.

Usage: Mólok are central to chemistry and related fields. They are used in stoichiometry to relate amounts of reactants and products, and in concentration expressions such as molarity, which is the number of moles per liter (mol/L).

Notes: In Hungarian texts, mólok is the plural form of mól and is used when referring to multiple moles; in English, the plural is moles.
