Lopetusmerkkejä, or terminal punctuation, are symbols used at the end of sentences in written Finnish. The most common lopetusmerkki is the period (.), also known as täysmerkki. It signifies a complete thought or statement. The question mark (?) is used to indicate a direct question. The exclamation mark (!) is employed to convey strong emotion, emphasis, or a command.
While these three are the primary lopetusmerkkejä, their usage follows standard grammatical rules. A period typically
