Külmaseadmed, commonly referred to as refrigeration equipment, are devices designed to maintain a low temperature in an enclosed space. This is achieved through a process of heat transfer, where heat is removed from the interior and expelled to the exterior. The primary components of most refrigeration systems include a compressor, a condenser, an expansion valve, and an evaporator. The refrigerant, a special fluid, circulates through these components, undergoing phase changes that facilitate the cooling process.

The compressor is responsible for increasing the pressure and temperature of the refrigerant vapor. The hot, high-pressure vapor then flows to the condenser, where it releases heat to the surrounding environment and condenses into a high-pressure liquid. This liquid passes through the expansion valve, where its pressure and temperature drop significantly. Finally, the cold, low-pressure liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator, located within the cooled space. Here, it absorbs heat from the interior, causing it to evaporate into a low-pressure vapor, thus cooling the space. The vapor then returns to the compressor, and the cycle repeats.

Külmaseadmed are utilized in a vast array of applications. Domestic refrigerators and freezers are the most common examples, preserving food. Commercial refrigeration is crucial for supermarkets, restaurants, and food processing industries. Industrial applications include chilling large volumes of liquids, process cooling, and air conditioning systems for buildings.
