Konvekcionit refers to convection, a fundamental process of heat transfer. It occurs in fluids, which include liquids and gases. Convection is characterized by the movement of the heated fluid itself, carrying thermal energy from one location to another. This is distinct from conduction, where heat is transferred through direct molecular contact, and radiation, where heat travels as electromagnetic waves.

In convection, a fluid is heated from below. As the fluid at the bottom warms up, it becomes less dense and rises. Cooler, denser fluid from above then sinks to take its place, creating a continuous circulation known as a convection current. This circulating motion efficiently distributes heat throughout the fluid.

Examples of convection are abundant in nature and in everyday life. On a large scale, convection drives weather patterns, such as the formation of clouds and wind. Ocean currents and the movement of magma within the Earth's mantle are also examples of convective processes. In a domestic setting, a radiator heats the air around it, which then rises, circulates through a room, cools, and sinks to be reheated, establishing a convection current. Similarly, boiling water in a pot involves convection as heated water rises and cooler water descends. Understanding convection is crucial in fields like meteorology, thermodynamics, and engineering, particularly in designing systems for heating, cooling, and energy transfer.
