Kivalina is a city located in the Northwest Arctic Borough of Alaska, United States. It is situated on the western coast of the Arctic Division of Alaska, approximately 80 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Kivalina is an Inupiat city, with the majority of its population being of Inupiat descent.

As of the 2020 United States Census, the population of Kivalina is approximately 369 people. The city spans an area of 32.2 square miles and lies along the Kivalina Sound, where the Kivalina River flows into the Chukchi Sea. The city's economy is largely dependent on subsistence activities, such as whaling and fishing, as well as a small amount of tourism.

Kivalina is known for its unique geography, with extensive coastal wetlands, sandy beaches, and outcrops of marine sediments. The city's residents have traditionally relied on the Kivalina Lagoon as a source for seafood, particularly in the winter months when other food sources are scarce.
