keskusverenkierron
Keskusverenkierron, which translates to central circulation in English, refers to the primary circulatory system responsible for transporting blood throughout the body. This system consists of the heart and blood vessels. The heart acts as a pump, rhythmically contracting to propel blood into arteries, which branch into smaller arterioles and finally capillaries. Capillaries are the smallest blood vessels where the exchange of oxygen, nutrients, and waste products occurs between the blood and body tissues. From the capillaries, blood flows into venules, which merge into larger veins, ultimately returning to the heart.
The central circulation is divided into two main circuits: the pulmonary circulation and the systemic circulation.
