keskivälikorvan
Keskivälikorva refers to the middle ear, a crucial part of the auditory system located behind the eardrum. It is an air-filled cavity within the temporal bone of the skull. The primary function of the middle ear is to efficiently transmit sound vibrations from the outer ear to the inner ear. This is achieved through a chain of three tiny bones called ossicles: the malleus (hammer), incus (anvil), and stapes (stirrup). The malleus is attached to the eardrum, and it transmits vibrations to the incus, which in turn passes them to the stapes. The stapes is connected to the oval window, an opening into the cochlea, which is part of the inner ear.
Another important structure within the middle ear is the Eustachian tube, also known as the auditory tube.
