Kargas is a former settlement and archaeological site located on the island of Yugii in Franz Josef Land, a Russian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. The site has been a subject of archaeological research and exploration due to its strategic location and historical significance.

Excavations and surveys conducted at the site have revealed evidence of human presence dating back to the Pre-Petrine period, specifically during the reign of Catherine the Great (1762-1796). The settlement is believed to have been established as a supply base for expeditions and trading posts, taking advantage of the island's proximity to the Northern Sea Route.

Artifacts found at the site suggest a mix of indigenous Samoyedic and Russian influences, with items such as copper arrowheads, ceramic vessels, and textiles.
