Kaasutin is a Finnish word that translates to "carburetor" in English. A carburetor is a device that mixes air and fuel in the correct ratio for combustion in an internal combustion engine. It is a critical component in many older gasoline engines, particularly in motorcycles, cars, and small engines like those found in lawnmowers.

The basic principle of a carburetor involves the Venturi effect. As air is drawn into the engine through the carburetor's throat, its speed increases, and its pressure decreases.
