kWAr refers to kilovolt-ampere reactive, a unit of measurement for apparent power in an alternating current (AC) electrical system. Apparent power, denoted by 'S', is the product of the root mean square (RMS) voltage and the RMS current in a circuit. It is a complex quantity that has two components: real power (P), measured in watts (W) or kilowatts (kW), which does the actual work, and reactive power (Q), measured in volt-ampere reactive (VAR) or kilovolt-ampere reactive (kVAR), which is stored and released by reactive components like inductors and capacitors.
