Isobaric refers to a process, transformation, or condition that occurs at constant pressure. In thermodynamics, an isobaric process is one where the pressure of the system remains unchanged throughout the change. This is in contrast to isochoric processes (constant volume) and isothermal processes (constant temperature).

When a gas undergoes an isobaric expansion, it absorbs heat, and its internal energy increases while performing work on its surroundings. Conversely, during an isobaric compression, heat is released, and work is done on the system. The relationship between the volume and temperature of an ideal gas during an isobaric process is described by Charles's Law, which states that the volume of a gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature at constant pressure.

In nuclear physics, isobaric nuclei are atoms of different chemical elements that have the same mass number (the total number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus). These atoms will have different atomic numbers (number of protons), meaning they are different elements, but their nuclei are composed of the same total number of nucleons. For example, Carbon-14 and Nitrogen-14 are isobaric because both have a mass number of 14, but Carbon has 6 protons and Nitrogen has 7 protons.
