Illatiivisestä is a Finnish grammatical case. It is one of the locative cases, indicating movement into something or a state of being within something. The illative case answers the questions "mihin?" (where to?) and "mihin sisään?" (into what?).

The illative case is formed by adding specific endings to the noun stem. These endings vary depending on the declension class of the noun and whether it is singular or plural. For example, in the singular, common endings include -Vn (where V is a vowel that is often the last vowel of the stem), -seen, and -hyn. In the plural, common endings are -ihin, -siin, and -isiin.

In the first example, "taloon" is the illative form of "talo" (house), showing movement into it. In the second example, "autossa" is the inessive case, which also signifies being inside something, but the illative specifically denotes the action of entering. While the inessive describes a static state of being inside, the illative describes movement or transition into that state. The illative is a fundamental case in Finnish grammar, crucial for expressing spatial relationships and directions.
