Häradssting is a Swedish term referring to a type of historical administrative division and associated legal jurisdiction. The word "härad" originally denoted a local community or district, and over time, it evolved into a fundamental unit of local government and law enforcement in Sweden. Each härad had its own assembly or "ting," where local legal matters were discussed and decided. This ting was also responsible for electing local officials and making decisions regarding taxation and defense.
The system of härads was in place for centuries, forming the backbone of Swedish rural administration. The
