Aeroponics mists the roots with nutrient solution.

Hydroponic systems can be used to grow a wide variety of plants, including vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, as well as herbs and fruits. It offers several advantages over traditional soil-based agriculture. Water usage can be significantly reduced because the water is recirculated and not lost to evaporation or runoff. Plants typically grow faster and produce higher yields in hydroponic systems due to the readily available nutrients and optimized growing conditions. Additionally, hydroponics can be done in areas with poor soil quality or limited space, such as urban environments or indoor farms.

However, hydroponics also has some challenges. It requires a consistent supply of electricity for pumps and other equipment. The initial setup cost for hydroponic systems can be higher than for conventional gardening. Maintaining the correct nutrient balance and pH levels is crucial for plant health and requires careful monitoring. Despite these considerations, hydroponics is a growing field in agriculture, offering a sustainable and efficient way to produce food.
