Holografisk refers to the technology and principles behind holography. Holography is a technique that enables a light wavefront scattered by an object to be recorded and later reconstructed. The reconstructed wavefront is identical to the original light scattered by the object, so the object appears as if it were still present. This is unlike a conventional photograph, which records only the intensity of light and its angle of polarization. Instead, a hologram records both the amplitude and phase of the light.

The recording of a hologram typically involves splitting a laser beam into two parts: an object beam and a reference beam. The object beam illuminates the object, and the scattered light from the object is directed onto a photographic plate. The reference beam is directed straight onto the same photographic plate. The interference pattern between the object beam and the reference beam is recorded on the plate. This interference pattern is what constitutes the hologram.

When the hologram is illuminated by a light beam similar to the reference beam, the recorded interference pattern diffracts the light, reconstructing the original wavefront from the object. This allows for a three-dimensional image of the object to be viewed. Holographic images can be viewed from different angles, providing a sense of depth and parallax.

Holographic technology has applications in various fields, including data storage, security features on credit cards and currency, art, and scientific imaging. Advances in digital holography and holographic displays are continually expanding the possibilities and accessibility of this technology.
