Hintamalliin refers to a tax on traffic or vehicle use in certain countries, most notably in Finland. The term is derived from the Finnish language where "hintamalli" literally translates to "tax model". This form of taxation is levied on the number of kilometers driven by a vehicle, whether private or commercial, in a given period.

The hintamalliin system was implemented in 2003 in Finland as an alternative to traditional annual or monthly car registration fees. The system collects a tax on each kilometer traveled, which the driver must declare and report to the authorities. As of the most recent regulations, the tax rate in Finland is 1.83 euros per 100 kilometers. The rate is adjusted annually based on inflation and the impact of any changes to the tax take on the overall budget.

In some cases, hintamalliin does not apply to vehicles owned by non-resident foreign nationals who drive only temporarily while in the territory. Special regulations also apply to certain vehicles such as those used for transportation services like ride-sharing or public transit. Additionally, government-issued vehicles and vehicles exempt from registration fees for agricultural, forestry, or village maintenance tasks might also not be subject to payment. When a vehicle reaches the end of its operating life, the owner is under obligation to file for a formal decommissioning certificate prior to scrapping or re-registering the vehicle.
