Hepatikus, or hepatic in English, is an adjective used in medical terminology to describe structures, functions, and conditions related to the liver. The term derives from the Greek hepar (liver) and the suffix -ikus, and it is used across various languages to indicate liver-related aspects.

In anatomy, hepatik terms appear as components of the liver’s vascular and biliary systems. The hepatic artery brings oxygenated blood to the liver, the hepatic portal vein delivers nutrient-rich blood from the gastrointestinal tract, and hepatic veins drain blood from the liver into the inferior vena cava. The biliary system includes the hepatic ducts, which collect bile produced by liver cells (hepatocytes) and convey it toward the common bile duct. The liver itself is divided into lobes and lobules, both described using hepatik terminology.

Functionally, hepatic or hepatotok terms refer to the liver’s roles in metabolism, bile production, detoxification, and protein synthesis.
