Gyökércsúcsának is a Hungarian term that translates to "root tip" or "root apex" in English. This refers to the very end of a plant's root, a crucial area for growth and development. The root tip is typically covered by a protective layer of cells called the root cap, which shields the delicate meristematic tissue as the root pushes through the soil.

Beneath the root cap lies the apical meristem, a region of actively dividing cells responsible for primary root elongation. These cells differentiate to form the various tissues of the root, including the epidermis, cortex, and vascular cylinder. The root tip also plays a vital role in sensing the environment, detecting gravity (gravitropism) and water (hydrotropism) to guide the root's growth direction. Specialized cells within the root tip are responsible for absorbing water and nutrients from the soil. Damage to the root tip can severely impair a plant's ability to grow and anchor itself.
