Granada is a city and municipality in the autonomous community of Andalusia, southern Spain. It is the capital of the province of Granada and sits at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, along the Darro and Genil rivers, at an elevation of about 700 to 800 meters. The city is renowned for the Alhambra, a Moorish fortress and palace complex, and for a well-preserved historic center that includes the Albaicín quarter. The Alhambra, Generalife, and the historic core are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
