Elektromagnetjõudu refers to the fundamental force of interaction between electrically charged particles. It is one of the four fundamental forces of nature, alongside gravity, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force. This force can be attractive or repulsive. Like charges repel each other, while opposite charges attract.

The strength and behavior of the electromagnetjõudu are described by classical electromagnetism, particularly Maxwell's equations, and at a quantum level, by quantum electrodynamics (QED). The quantum of the electromagnetic field is the photon. This force is responsible for a vast array of phenomena observed in everyday life, including light, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms and molecules.

Electromagnetic forces hold atoms together, forming chemical bonds that create all matter. They are also responsible for the transmission of light and other forms of electromagnetic radiation across the universe. When electric currents flow through wires, they generate magnetic fields, and conversely, changing magnetic fields can induce electric currents. This principle is the basis for electric generators and motors. The electromagnetjõudu plays a critical role in technology, from the simplest circuits to complex communication systems.
