Conflict-serializability is a concept in database theory that ensures the correctness of transaction processing in a concurrent environment. Conflict-serializability is a sufficient but not necessary condition for serializability. This means that every conflict-serializable schedule is serializable, but not every serializable schedule is conflict-serializable. This distinction is important because conflict-serializability is easier to check than general serializability, making it a practical criterion for ensuring the correctness of transaction schedules in database systems.
