concdmus
Concdmus is a genus of Gram‑negative, rod‑shaped bacteria that belongs to the phylum Proteobacteria, class Gammaproteobacteria, and family Vibrionaceae. The type species, Concdmus marinus, was first isolated from coastal sediment samples in the North Atlantic in 2012. Members of this genus are facultatively anaerobic and exhibit a halophilic preference, thriving in salinities ranging from 3% to 15% NaCl. Morphologically, Concdmus cells are typically 0.8–1.2 µm in width and 2.0–4.0 µm in length, with a single polar flagellum that facilitates motility in aqueous environments. The genus is characterized by the production of a distinctive marinochrome pigment, which has been tentatively linked to protection against ultraviolet radiation.
