Besparelserne, also known as the Sparring Partners, were a group of Danish resistance fighters during World War II. They were part of the Danish resistance movement, which aimed to overthrow the German occupation of Denmark. The group was named after their leader, Hans Christian Besparel, who was a prominent Danish journalist and resistance fighter.

The Besparelserne were known for their daring and effective sabotage operations against the German occupation forces. They carried out a series of successful attacks on German military installations, transportation networks, and communication systems. Their actions helped to weaken the German occupation and contributed to the eventual liberation of Denmark in 1945.

The group was also involved in the rescue and hiding of Danish Jews and other persecuted groups during the Holocaust. They provided safe houses and false identities to those in need, helping to save many lives.

The Besparelserne were eventually discovered and arrested by the German authorities in 1944. Hans Christian Besparel was executed in 1945, while the other members of the group were either executed or sent to concentration camps. Despite their eventual capture and punishment, the Besparelserne are remembered as heroes of the Danish resistance and a symbol of Denmark's resistance against the German occupation.
