antipodaalisosat
Antipodaalisosat refers to the geographical antipodes of Australia. The antipodes of a point on the Earth's surface are the two points diametrically opposite to it. Therefore, the antipodes of Australia are located in the Northern Hemisphere, primarily in the North Atlantic Ocean. Specifically, the vast majority of Australia's antipodes lie in the ocean between the coasts of Spain and Portugal to the east and Newfoundland, Canada, to the west. There are no significant landmasses directly antipodal to Australia. The concept of antipodes is a geographical one, based on the spherical nature of the Earth. While the term "antipodal islands" is sometimes used to refer to islands in close proximity to the antipodal point of a landmass, in the case of Australia, its true antipodes are overwhelmingly oceanic. This means that if one were to drill a straight line through the Earth from any point in mainland Australia, they would emerge in the sea.
