Analoogringhääling is the traditional method of broadcasting audio and video signals over radio waves. This is in contrast to digital broadcasting, where the information is converted into discrete numerical values.

The process of analog transmission involves a transmitter generating a carrier wave and then altering its properties according to the sound or image being broadcast. A receiver, tuned to the correct frequency, then detects these variations and converts them back into a recognizable audio or video signal. Analog technology was the foundation of broadcasting for decades, enabling radio and television services to reach widespread audiences.

However, analog signals are susceptible to interference, noise, and degradation over distance. This can result in a loss of quality, particularly in areas with weak signals or in the presence of electromagnetic disturbances. The transition to digital broadcasting, which began in earnest in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, offered significant advantages in terms of signal clarity, efficiency, and the ability to carry more data, including high-definition content. While largely superseded by digital technologies in many parts of the world, understanding analog broadcasting remains important for historical context and for certain specialized applications.
