Akonstruálhatóság refers to the possibility of constructing a geometric figure using only a limited set of tools, typically an unmarked straightedge and a compass. This concept originates from ancient Greek geometry and has been a subject of intense study for centuries.

The primary focus of akonstruálhatóság has been on three famous problems: the trisection of an arbitrary angle, the doubling of the cube (constructing a cube with twice the volume of a given cube), and the squaring of the circle (constructing a square with the same area as a given circle). It was proven in the 19th century that all three of these problems are impossible to solve using only straightedge and compass constructions.

Any length that can be constructed must be an algebraic number, meaning it is a root of a polynomial equation with integer coefficients. Furthermore, the degree of such a polynomial must be a power of 2.
