Voolutüüp

Voolutüüp refers to the direction of electrical current flow. In most common electronic circuits, the conventional current direction is defined as the flow of positive charge from a region of higher electric potential to a region of lower electric potential. This is the direction of current typically shown in circuit diagrams and used in most electrical calculations.

However, in metallic conductors, the actual charge carriers are electrons, which are negatively charged. These electrons flow from a region of lower electric potential to a region of higher electric potential, opposite to the conventional current direction. This distinction is important for understanding the physical movement of charge carriers within a material.

The concept of voolutüüp is fundamental to understanding how electrical components operate and how circuits behave. It is a convention that simplifies analysis and design, even though the physical reality of electron flow is in the opposite direction in most solid conductors. For alternating current (AC) circuits, the direction of current flow reverses periodically, and the concept of voolutüüp applies to the instantaneous direction of flow at any given moment.
