Vialenes

Vialanes is a municipality and town in Veridia, a fictional country, located in the Veridian Highlands along the Oro River. The municipality covers 42.1 square kilometers and has a population of about 7,200 as of the 2023 census. The terrain is hilly, with elevations between 320 and 620 meters.

The area shows evidence of earlier settlement, including Roman-era remains, and the town dates from the medieval parish established in the 12th century. The name is thought to derive from Latin villa and a local river-based toponym, reflecting its geographic setting.

Traditionally based on agriculture, Vialanes maintains vineyards and dairy farming. The 20th century saw growth in small textile workshops and wood processing. More recently, tourism and light manufacturing have broadened the economic base, attracting visitors to historic streets and surrounding countryside.

Culture and society: The town preserves a compact historic center with medieval and Baroque architecture. Local festivals include the Autumn Market and Saint Margot Day in May. The regional language is Veridian, supplemented by a local dialect; influences from Italian and French heritage appear in place names and cuisine.

Infrastructure and services: Vialanes is connected by regional roads and a rail line with a station near the town center. Public services include a primary school, a secondary school, a public library, and a small hospital in the district capital; a municipal museum and cultural center serve residents and visitors.
