Valoren

Valoren is the Swiss security identification number, a unique numeric code used to identify securities within the Swiss financial markets. It covers a wide range of instruments, including shares, bonds, funds, and other financial products, and is assigned when a security is admitted to trading or registered in Switzerland.

The Valor system is maintained by SIX Swiss Exchange and its data services on behalf of the Swiss market. It serves as a domestic identifier for clearing, settlement, custody, and trade reporting, enabling precise identification across Swiss market infrastructure. In practice, most Swiss securities carry both a Valor and an international identifier (ISIN); the Valor provides a stable domestic reference even as other identifiers may change due to corporate actions or listing moves.

Valoren numbers are widely used by banks, brokers, asset managers, and central counterparties in daily operations, such as trade confirmations, custody statements, and regulatory reporting. While ISINs facilitate cross-border identification, the Valor remains central to domestic processes and market data within Switzerland.
