VRK1s
VRK1s, also known as Vaccinia Related Kinase 1 Small, are a family of protein kinases involved in cellular processes. These kinases play a role in regulating cell growth and proliferation. VRK1s are part of the larger VRK family, which are conserved across many species. The VRK1 gene encodes for these small kinase proteins. Research has shown that VRK1s can influence DNA replication and repair mechanisms within the cell. Aberrant expression or function of VRK1s has been implicated in certain disease states, including cancer, where they may contribute to uncontrolled cell division. Studies are ongoing to fully elucidate the complex roles of VRK1s in both normal cellular function and disease pathogenesis. Understanding these kinases could lead to potential therapeutic targets for various conditions.
