Végtagkárosodás refers to damage or loss of function in a limb, encompassing arms and legs. This can occur due to a variety of causes, including traumatic injuries, diseases, and congenital conditions. Traumatic causes can range from accidents like car crashes or falls, leading to fractures, dislocations, or severe soft tissue damage, to industrial accidents resulting in amputations.

Diseases are another significant factor contributing to végtagkárosodás. Conditions such as diabetes can lead to peripheral neuropathy and vascular disease, impairing blood flow and nerve function, often resulting in foot or leg ulcers that may necessitate amputation. Peripheral artery disease (PAD) can also cause severe pain and tissue death in the limbs. Neurological disorders like stroke, spinal cord injury, or multiple sclerosis can impair motor control and sensation, leading to weakness, paralysis, or spasticity in the limbs. Infections, both bacterial and viral, can also damage limb tissues, sometimes leading to sepsis and gangrene.
