UVfényforrások, or UV light sources, are devices that emit ultraviolet radiation. UV radiation is electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths shorter than visible light but longer than X-rays, typically ranging from 10 nanometers to 400 nanometers. These sources are crucial in numerous scientific, industrial, and medical applications.

Common types of UVfényforrások include mercury-vapor lamps, which produce UV light by passing an electric arc through mercury vapor. Xenon arc lamps are another type, known for their broad spectrum output that includes UV. Fluorescent lamps, while primarily designed to emit visible light, also produce UV radiation internally, which is then converted to visible light by a phosphor coating. Specialized UV LEDs are increasingly popular due to their energy efficiency, long lifespan, and controllable wavelength output. Lasers that emit in the UV spectrum are also used for highly precise applications.

Applications of UVfényforrások are diverse. In medicine, UV lamps are used for phototherapy to treat skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, and for germicidal sterilization of medical equipment. Industrially, UV curing is widely employed to rapidly harden inks, coatings, and adhesives, saving energy and time. UV light is also used in water purification to kill bacteria and viruses, and in analytical chemistry for fluorescence spectroscopy and chromatography. In research, UV sources are vital for various experiments, from material science to biological studies.
