Titraatti

Titraatti is a term that can refer to several related concepts primarily in chemistry and sometimes in other scientific contexts. In chemistry, a titrant is a solution of known concentration that is used to determine the concentration of another solution, the analyte, through a process called titration. The titrant is slowly added to the analyte until the reaction between them is complete, usually indicated by a color change or other measurable property. The volume of titrant used to reach this endpoint allows for the calculation of the analyte's concentration.

The term "titraatti" can also sometimes be used to refer to the solution that is being titrated, i.e., the analyte itself. However, the more precise term for the solution of known concentration is titrant. In a broader sense, a titraatti might refer to any substance that is involved in a titrimetric analysis. The fundamental principle behind titration, and thus the use of a titraatti, is stoichiometry, where the quantitative relationships between reactants and products in a chemical reaction are exploited.
