Suojahälytys

Suojahälytys, meaning "shelter alarm" in Finnish, is a public warning system used in Finland. It is a specific type of siren signal intended to alert the public to imminent danger that requires immediate action to seek shelter. Unlike other siren signals, the suojahälytys is not a test and requires the population to take protective measures.

The suojahälytys signal consists of a continuous, one-minute-long siren sound. Upon hearing this alarm, people should immediately go indoors, close all windows and doors, and stay informed through official channels such as television, radio, or the internet. The purpose is to protect individuals from immediate threats such as chemical or biological hazards, or other catastrophic events where staying indoors provides the best protection.
