Sissevarjatud

Sissevarjatud is an Estonian adjective meaning hidden inside or concealed within, used to describe something that is not immediately visible because it lies inside another object or is not apparent on the surface. The term can be used both literally and metaphorically, for example to refer to a feature embedded inside a device or to hidden motives in a situation.

Etymology: It is a compound of the preposition sisse- meaning inside and varjatud, the past participle of varjata “to hide.” The combination yields a straightforward literal meaning of hidden inside.

Usage: In everyday language, phrases such as sissevarjatud omadused (internal properties) or sissevarjatud motiivid (hidden motives) are common. In technical or literary contexts, the word conveys concealed or internal aspects that are not visible at first glance. It may be used attributively, as in “sissevarjatud omadused,” or predicatively, as in “omadused on sissevarjatud.”
