Sinhalalanguage
Sinhala is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by the Sinhalese people, who are the largest ethnic group in Sri Lanka. It is the official language of Sri Lanka, along with Tamil. Sinhala has a long literary history, with the earliest known Sinhala inscriptions dating back to the 3rd century BCE. The Sinhala script, known as Sinhala script or Sinhala lipi, is derived from the Brahmi script and is written from left to right.
The vocabulary of Sinhala has been influenced by Sanskrit, Pali, and more recently, by English and Tamil.
