SiO4tetraedrejä
SiO4 tetraedrejä, also known as orthosilicate tetrahedra, are fundamental building blocks in the structure of many silicate minerals. Each tetrahedron consists of a central silicon atom covalently bonded to four oxygen atoms arranged at the corners of a tetrahedron. The chemical formula for this basic unit is [SiO4]4-. The silicon atom carries a +4 oxidation state, and each oxygen atom carries a -2 oxidation state, resulting in an overall negative charge of -4 for the entire tetrahedron.
These [SiO4]4- units are rarely found in isolation in stable mineral structures. Instead, they link together
The arrangement and bonding of SiO4 tetrahedra are responsible for the diverse physical and chemical properties
