The tablet is significant because it provides valuable insight into the writing system used by the Minoans, a Bronze Age civilization that once thrived on the island of Crete.

Dating back to the Minoan period, approximately 1450-1370 BCE, the Seletuskirjas tablet is considered an important artifact for deciphering the Linear A script. This particular script has yet to be fully deciphered, and the Seletuskirjas tablet contributes to ongoing research and analysis in the field. Created using a combination of ink and incised characters, the tablet measures around 150x50 mm in size and contains a series of symbols that may represent a language or a system of record-keeping.

The Seletuskirjas tablet is one of the largest and most intact examples of a Linear A tablet that has been discovered to date.
