Süsihappegaasidele

Süsihappegaasidele refers to greenhouse gases in Estonian. These are gases in the Earth's atmosphere that trap heat. They absorb and emit radiant energy within the thermal infrared range. This process is the fundamental cause of the greenhouse effect.

The primary greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone. Without the greenhouse effect, Earth's average temperature would be much colder, making it uninhabitable for many forms of life. However, human activities have increased the concentration of certain greenhouse gases, leading to an enhanced greenhouse effect and global warming.

Carbon dioxide is the most significant contributor to the enhanced greenhouse effect due to human activities. Its release is primarily from the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. Methane is another potent greenhouse gas, released from sources such as livestock, natural gas leaks, and landfills. Nitrous oxide is emitted from agricultural and industrial activities, as well as from the combustion of fossil fuels.

The accumulation of these gases in the atmosphere traps more heat, causing the planet's average temperature to rise. This phenomenon, known as global warming, has far-reaching consequences, including changes in weather patterns, rising sea levels, and disruptions to ecosystems. International efforts are underway to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.
