Reduktionsatmosphären

Reduktionsatmosphären, also known as reducing atmospheres, are environments where the availability of oxidizing agents, such as oxygen, is significantly limited, and reducing agents, such as hydrogen or carbon monoxide, are abundant. These conditions are the opposite of oxidizing atmospheres. In a reducing atmosphere, chemical reactions tend to involve the gain of electrons by a substance, leading to a reduction in its oxidation state.

These atmospheric conditions are crucial in various industrial processes. For instance, in metallurgy, reducing atmospheres are employed to extract metals from their oxides.
