Primärkopplingen refers to the primary circuit in an electrical transformer. This circuit is connected to the input voltage source and contains the primary winding. The primary winding is a coil of wire wrapped around a magnetic core. When an alternating current flows through the primary winding, it generates a changing magnetic field within the core. This changing magnetic field is the key to the transformer's operation, as it induces a voltage in the secondary winding. The ratio of the number of turns in the primary winding to the number of turns in the secondary winding determines the voltage transformation. A higher number of turns in the primary winding compared to the secondary winding results in a voltage step-down, while a lower number of turns in the primary winding leads to a voltage step-up. The primary circuit's impedance also plays a role in how the transformer draws power from the source.
