Pohjoisgermaaniseen
Pohjoisgermaaniseen is the illative singular form of the Finnish adjective pohjoisgermaaninen, meaning “North Germanic.” It is used in Finnish to indicate movement toward, or inclusion in, the North Germanic language group, for example in the phrase pohjoisgermaaniseen kieliryhmään kuuluvat kielet, meaning “languages belonging to the North Germanic language group.” In Finnish, adjectives inflect for case and number, so pohjoisgermaanainen becomes pohjoisgermaaniseen in the illative singular and pohjoisgermaanisiin in the illative plural, among other forms.
