Peptidkötéseit refers to peptide bonds in Hungarian. A peptide bond is a type of amide bond that is formed between two amino acid molecules. Specifically, it forms when the carboxyl group of one amino acid reacts with the amino group of another amino acid. This reaction results in the release of a molecule of water, a process known as dehydration synthesis or condensation. The resulting molecule, containing two or more amino acids linked by peptide bonds, is called a peptide.

Peptides are the building blocks of proteins, which are essential macromolecules in all living organisms. The sequence of amino acids linked by peptide bonds determines the primary structure of a protein, which in turn dictates its three-dimensional shape and ultimately its function.
